Rules That Make No Sense, But Everyone Follows Anyway

If anyone tries to pass you, speed up.

Say you’re driving along—happily—when someone dares try to pass you. What do you do? Do what everyone does, of course. You speed up! Why do we do that? Is it a race? Do we feel bad that we’re going too slowly for someone else? Do we think it’s nervy for someone to beat us —wherever they may be going?
