Topher Grace Only Pursued Acting Because He Couldn’t Be A Star Tennis Player
Christopher Grace (he eventually changed his name to Topher) dreamed that he’d become a professional tennis player. However, those plans were thwarted when he sprained his ankles. Looking for something else to occupy his time, Grace decided to tryout for his high school’s production of A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum.
Grace nabbed the lead role in the play, and by some form of kismet, Hollywood producers happened to be in the audience. They liked what they saw and contacted the new thespian when he was a freshman at the University of Southern California. Grace was offered the role of Eric Forman, and he accepted.
